Durable Pressure Gauge Syphons by SFT Valves Fittings

It is vitally important to keep your pressure instruments protected from any medium that is at such a high temperature, like steam, that would have an adverse effect upon the accuracy of their measurements and the safety of your process.

SFT Valves Fittings offers a full line of Syphons (also called Pigtails, Coils, Gauge Siphons, Pigtail Siphons, and Condensate Chambers) that provide a condensate barrier between the hot process media (e.g., steam or hot water) and the gauge mechanism (movement assembly) of your pressure sensing instruments (pressure gauges, pressure switches, pressure transmitters, etc.).

Overview of Product

A syphon works on a simple, yet very effective, concept by trapping the condensate in the coiled or looped section of the syphon. The trapped liquid serves as a buffer between the live steam or hot gas and the internals of the pressure gauge.

How It Works:

  • When the system is turned on, steam flows into the siphon where it will begin to condense.
  • The lower portion of the loop or coil collects the condensate.
  • A column of condensate traps steam from reaching the gauge.
  • The pressured liquid column transmits pressure through liquid.
  • The gauge measures accurately without being subject to excessive temperatures.
